Reaction Unit

This system may be used for demonstrations and experiments with a large number of reaction processes such as:-

  • Boiling at reflux
  • Distillation.
  • Mixing
  • Phase separation.
  • Solution
  • Suspension

Main components comprise of:-

  • Reaction vessel- Steel enamelled or stainless steel vessel with jacket, 30, 40 or 50 litre nominal capacity with cylindrical section and hood of Glass.
  • Agitator R : Output 0.25 and 0.37 KW respectively, speed: 50…500 rpm, rotating mechanical seal, stirrer PTFE coated or stainless steel.
  • Column K : Distillation column DN80 or 100liter; approximate 500…1000 mm with filing.
  • Condenser: Horizontal condenser, 1.0m2 made of Glass.
  • Reflux condenser : Vertical condenser, 0.6 and 1.0 m2 respectively.
  • Raw material receiver : Cylindrical vessel made of glass 25, 40 or 60 liter nominal capacity.
  • Product receiver: Cylindrical vessel made of glass, 15 or 25 liter nominal capacity.
  • Phase separator : DN80, made of glass maximum throughout 50 liter/hour.
  • Recooler : Product cooler 0.3 to 0.5 m2 respectively.
  • Control : Conventional control cabinet.
  • Frame : Tube frame.

Gassing Reactor

The devices are suitable for oxidation processes with oxygen or air e.g chlorination or bromation.Liquid-gas-phase reactors are available as blowing or bubble columns.

Main components :

Reaction vessel : Cylindrical vessel or jacketed vessel made of Duran glass, nominal capacity 13 liters.

Heater : Tank coil or jacketed heater 0.45 m2.

Air distribution: Glass filter

Reflux cooler : Screw-flights heat exchanger 0.06 m2.

Thermostat : Heating output 3 KW.

Laboratory Reactors

These reactors are particularly suitable for demonstrations and experiments with the following processes:

  • Boiling at reflux
  • Mixing
  • Solutions
  • Suspensions etc.

The reactions can proceed at normal pressure or in vacuum.

Main components:

Reaction vessels : Jacketed vessels, cylindrical vessels, spherical vessels, made of glass, nominal capacity 2,4,6 or 10 liter

Preliminary heating : Heating jacket(jacketed vessel) hood heater (spherical or cylindrical vessels)

Agitator : Rated output: 17…130 W

Torque : 8…60 Ncm.

Speed : 50…2000 rpm.

Speed indicator, torque indicator.

Magnetic stirrer lock, rotating mechanical seal inclined blade or anchor stirrer.

Reflux condenser : Jacket condenser 0.2,0.3 or 0.6 m2. Made of glass.

Metering funnel : capacity 100, 250, 500 or 1000 ml.

Pressure Reactor

The Pressure reactors have the possible capacities of 500mL, 1L, 1.5L

Reactor type : Double Walled and Triple Walled


Operating pressure : -1 bar g (full vacuum) to +12bar g(+1.2MPa)

Operating temperature : -90 deg C to +200 deg C

The system does not include overhead stirrer.

The parts that come into contact with fluid are made of borosilicate glass 3.3, PTFE, and SS316 and perfluor.

Fully automated laboratory synthesis units

The automated laboratory units is compact and fully automated plant designed for scale-up, process optimization or full-scale production of small quantities. The process management system has a convenient graphical user interface under WINDOWS; it is graphic recipe driven and programmed, making the automated laboratory unit easy to operate.

Using weighing modules which operate to an accuracy of 0.1 grams precisely operating dosing pumps and easy-to-use recipe control, the automated laboratory unit produces the products you require in exact accordance with your indications, fully automatically, reproducibly and continuously. With the automated laboratory unit’s convenient process management system you have access to all the process data, so that you can display, for example temperature profiles and mass and energy balances or carry out further processing of the data using an EXCEL spreadsheet. For carrying out material balances convenient interfaces are available using , for example standard HPLC test vessels.

The automated laboratory unit can be expanded on a modular basis to the Miniplant. Using our extensive range of components ( e,g, falling film and thin film evaporators to handle sensitive products) the automated laboratory unit can grow to meet you requirements and specifications right up to the status of a complex and networkable Miniplant.

The automated laboratory unit quickly pays for itself. Several customers have reported amortisation in as little as half a year.

Mini Plants for low tonnage productions

Miniplants can be used to set up complete production units on a small scale. Miniplants are thus ideal for scale-up or the production of small quantities, for example in the production of active substances. For production conforming to GMP we develop plants to our customers specific requirements.

Typical arrangement of a fully automatic Miniplant:

Central chemical storage (e.g. drums)

  • Reactor with stirrer, thermostat(-20 to 180 deg c), sensors, distillation overhead gear, condenser; reactant A with solvent N is weighed out from the central chemicals storage into dosing vessel and then pumped into the reactor. The reactor is heated to reaction temperature X. Reactant B is pumped from the storage into dosing vessel 2 and added over a period of one hour during which constant temperature of reaction is observed. Product C and by-product result. The reaction solution is pumped to plant 2.
  • Stirred vessel with phase separation: Extraction of product C with solvent M.
  • Gentle evaporation of solvent M in the thin film evaporator. The product is drawn off.
  • Treatment of solvent N in a rectification plant and return of solvent N to chemicals storage.
  • On-site central control room: As the process management system is networkable, supervision can be transferred at night to a central control room, where the plant can be switched to a safe state by simply pressing a knob in the event of critical signals from the plant.

Miniplant : Process management system

Miniplants are highly automated plants, which grow to meet the customer’s requirements. These plants equipped with the hardware and software components, provide a high performance and expandable process management system offering a high degree of user convenience. The Mini-plants expandable support structure provides significant performance and system reserves to cater for the possible incorporation of further systems. Mini-plants can be operated from any location with Ethernet-networked PCs.

The prinicipal features of the standard and applications software are:

  • Object oriented process visualization under WINDOWS with menus and windows using icons.
  • Trend display, on-line display of process data with zoom function.
  • Graphics editor as development tool to set up and speed up the user interface, possibility of using dynamic symbols and an integrated command language.
  • Collection and display of historical process data.
  • Exchange of data with other WINDOWS programs (e.g. EXCEL,WORD)
  • Graphical recipe processing and programming, storage of current process conditions in recipes, loading of data and parameters from recipes.
  • Software modules for basic process engineering operations (e.g dosing, heating, stirring)
  • Different access levels and user levels.
  • Alarm handling, supervision of critical process conditions, recording.
